# alt:V Server Hosting Has Ended: Move to FiveM

> alt:V has shut down: the GTA V multiplayer platform stopped working on 6 July 2026. FREAKHOSTING no longer sells alt:V servers. Here is how to move to FiveM.

alt:V has shut down. After a cease-and-desist from Take-Two, the platform stopped new servers on 2 March 2026, closed its public server list on 4 May 2026 and stopped working completely on 6 July 2026. FREAKHOSTING no longer offers alt:V servers. To keep running a GTA V multiplayer community, move to FiveM, the platform Rockstar Games supports.

## What happened to alt:V?

The alt:V team announced a staged shutdown after Take-Two asked them to stop:

## What does this mean for FREAKHOSTING customers?

* We no longer sell alt:V servers.
* alt:V servers can't be installed, updated or listed any more, because the platform's downloads and backend are gone.
* If you still have an alt:V server with us, [open a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php) and our team will help you move to a FiveM server.

## How to move your community to FiveM

FiveM is the multiplayer platform for GTA V that Rockstar Games supports. Most of what alt:V servers did (roleplay, custom scripts, maps and vehicles) works on FiveM with its own resources.

**1. Get a FiveM server**

Order a FiveM server, or [open a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php) to ask about moving your existing service.

**2. Set up the licence key**

Every FiveM server needs a free Cfx.re licence key. See [how to set up a FiveM licence key](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/fivem/setting-up-a-fivem-license-key.md).

**3. Start with a framework**

Follow [getting started with your FiveM server](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/fivem/getting-started-with-your-fivem-server.md) and pick a framework or txAdmin recipe for your game mode.

**4. Rebuild your scripts**

alt:V resources don't run on FiveM as they are. Rewrite them as FiveM resources (Lua, JavaScript or C#), or use FiveM resources that already do the same job.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I still run an alt:V server?

No. alt:V stopped working on 6 July 2026 and its server downloads are no longer available.

### Can I use my alt:V resources on FiveM?

Not directly. FiveM has its own resource format, so alt:V resources need to be rewritten or replaced with FiveM resources.

### Do you offer another GTA V multiplayer platform?
