# How to Export Server Packages for Your ATS Server (DLC and Mods)

> Export server_packages.sii and .dat from American Truck Simulator with export_server_packages, then upload them to your server to run your DLC map and mods.

To run your DLC and mods on an American Truck Simulator server, turn on the console in your game (`uset g_console "1"` in `config.cfg`), load your profile, press `~` and type `export_server_packages`. The game writes `server_packages.sii` and `server_packages.dat` to `Documents\American Truck Simulator`. Upload both files to **Files** > `.local` > `share` > `American Truck Simulator` on your FREAKHOSTING server and restart it.

| Difficulty | Time | Where | Panel page |
| - | - | - | - |
| Intermediate | 10 minutes | Your game, then your server | **Files** |

## Before you start

* You need American Truck Simulator on your PC with the DLC and mods you want on the server.
* Update the game to the same version as the server. The console shows the server version, for example `[MP] Game version: 1.61s`.

## Step 1: Turn on the console in your game

**1. Close the game**

The game rewrites `config.cfg` while it runs.

**2. Open config.cfg**

Open `Documents\American Truck Simulator\config.cfg` in a text editor such as Notepad.

**3. Change g\_console**

Find `uset g_console "0"` and change it to `uset g_console "1"`. Save the file.

## Step 2: Export the packages

**1. Set up your mods**

Start the game, select your profile and activate the mods the server should run in **Mod Manager**.

**2. Load the profile**

Load the profile so you are in the world. The export needs a loaded map.

**3. Run the command**

Press `~` to open the console and type:

```text theme={null}
export_server_packages
```

**4. Find the files**

`server_packages.sii` and `server_packages.dat` are now in `Documents\American Truck Simulator`.

## Step 3: Upload them to your server

**1. Stop the server**

[Stop the server](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-start-stop-and-restart-your-game-server.md).

**2. Open the config folder**

Open **Files** and go to `.local` > `share` > `American Truck Simulator`.

**3. Upload both files**

Click **Upload** and upload `server_packages.sii` and `server_packages.dat`, replacing the existing files. Always upload both together.

**4. Start and check**

Start the server. In the [console](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-use-the-server-console.md), check the `[MP] DLC -` lines, `[MP] Map name:` and `[MP] Modded session:`.

Upload server\_packages.sii and server\_packages.dat to this folder

## What is in the server packages?

| File | Contains |
| - | - |
| `server_packages.sii` | The map, the DLC list and the mod list |
| `server_packages.dat` | Internal map data |

The server doesn't need DLC or mod files of its own. Everything it needs comes from these two files, and they aren't tied to your Steam account. A new FREAKHOSTING server has default packages with the base map (`/map/usa.mbd`) and no mods.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why does the console say export\_server\_packages is unknown?

The console isn't on, or you typed it in the main menu. Check `uset g_console "1"` in `config.cfg`, load a profile first, then run the command.

### Do I need to export again after a game update?

Export again after a game update or whenever you change DLC or mods, so the server matches what players have.

### Do my players need the DLC in the packages?

Players need the mods the server runs. For DLC, keep the server's packages to what your group owns so everyone can drive the same map.

### Can I use packages exported by a friend?

Yes. The files aren't linked to an account. The friend must export with the same mods and game version you want on the server.
