# How to Become Admin on Your Arma 3 Server (#login)

> How to become admin on an Arma 3 server: set passwordAdmin in server.cfg, restart, then type #login and your password in chat. Or add your UID to admins[].

To become admin on a FREAKHOSTING Arma 3 server, open `server.cfg` in **Files**, remove the `//` in front of `passwordAdmin`, set your own password and restart. In game, open chat and type `#login` followed by the password, for example `#login MyAdminPass`. You can then use admin commands such as `#kick` and `#missions`. Type `#logout` when you are done.

## How to set the admin password

**1. Open server.cfg**

Stop the server, click **Files** and open `server.cfg`.

**2. Set passwordAdmin**

Find the line `//passwordAdmin`. Remove the `//` and set a password, for example:

passwordAdmin = "MyAdminPass";
```

**3. Save and start**

Click **Save Content** and start the server.

**4. Log in in game**

Join the server, open chat and type `#login MyAdminPass`. Type `#logout` to give up admin rights.

Don't use the same password as **Server Password** or **RCon Password**. Anyone with the admin password can kick, ban and change missions.

## What you can do as admin

| Watch performance | `#monitor 5` |
| Change TFAR or other CBA settings | The settings menu, **Server** tab |

## How to log in without a password (admins\[])

You can list trusted players by their player UID. They can then type `#login` with no password.

```cpp theme={null}
admins[] = {"76561198000000000", "76561198000000001"};
```

Remove the `//` in front of `admins[]` in `server.cfg`, add the UIDs in quotes separated by commas and restart. On Steam, the UID is the player's 17-digit Steam ID (SteamID64).

## What is serverCommandPassword?

`serverCommandPassword` is a password for scripts, not for players. Missions and mods that use the `serverCommand` script command on the server need it. Only set it if your mission or mod asks for it. It is case-sensitive.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why does #login not work?

Check that the line in `server.cfg` no longer starts with `//`, that it ends with a semicolon, and that you restarted after saving. Then type the password exactly, including capital letters.

### Can I kick and ban without joining the game?

Yes, with [BattlEye RCon](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/arma-3/how-to-set-up-battleye-rcon-on-arma-3.md) and an RCon tool on your PC.

### How do I give a friend panel access instead?

Use **Users** in the panel to invite them with a role. See [sub-users](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-manage-sub-users.md). That controls the panel, not in-game admin rights.
