# How to Add Custom Cars to Your Assetto Corsa Server

> Add custom cars to an Assetto Corsa server: upload the car's server data with data.acd to content/cars, add it to CARS and give it slots in entry_list.ini.

To add a custom car to your FREAKHOSTING Assetto Corsa server, upload the car's server data (its folder with `data.acd`) to `content/cars/` in **Files**, add the car's folder name to `CARS` in `cfg/server_cfg.ini` and add `[CAR_x]` slots for it in `cfg/entry_list.ini`. Restart the server. Every player needs the same version of the car on their PC, or the server rejects them.

| Difficulty | Time | Works on | Panel pages |
| - | - | - | - |
| Intermediate | 10 to 20 minutes | Every FREAKHOSTING Assetto Corsa server | **Files** |

## Before you start

* Install the car on your PC first (`assettocorsa\content\cars\<car folder>`) and drive it offline once.
* Note the car's folder name, for example `my_gt3_car`. That is the car ID.
* Make a [backup](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-create-and-restore-backups.md).

## How to add a mod car to your server

**1. Get the car's server data**

Build a server preset with the car in Content Manager and click **Pack**. The pack holds the server data for each car, including `data.acd`. See [Content Manager server presets](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/assetto-corsa/using-ac-server-wrapper-content-manager.md).

**2. Stop the server**

[Stop the server](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-start-stop-and-restart-your-game-server.md).

**3. Upload the car folder**

In **Files**, open `content/cars/` and upload the car's folder. Keep the folder name the same as on your PC.

**4. Add the car to CARS**

Open `cfg/server_cfg.ini` and add the car ID to `CARS`, separated by `;`:

```ini theme={null}
CARS=bmw_m3_e30;my_gt3_car
```

**5. Add car slots**

Open `cfg/entry_list.ini` and add one `[CAR_x]` section per grid slot for the new car. Number the sections in order with no gaps:

```ini theme={null}
[CAR_22]
MODEL=my_gt3_car
SKIN=
SPECTATOR_MODE=0
DRIVERNAME=
TEAM=
GUID=
BALLAST=0
```

Set `SKIN` to a skin folder name from the car's `skins` folder, or leave it empty. See [entry\_list.ini explained](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/assetto-corsa/understanding-entrylistini.md).

**6. Start the server**

Save both files, start the server and check the [console](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-use-the-server-console.md). The lobby line lists the cars the server offers.

## Why players get kicked with a mod car

The server compares each player's car data with the `data.acd` on the server. If the player has a different version of the car, they can't join with it. Share the exact download you used, and upload the new server data whenever you update the car.

## Cars already on your server

The Kunos cars are installed in `content/cars/`, for example `bmw_m3_e30`, `ks_mazda_miata` and `ferrari_458`. Open the folder in **Files** to see the full list. Cars from DLC packs need the matching DLC on players' PCs.

## Frequently asked questions

### How many cars can I put on the server?

As many as you have slots for in `entry_list.ini`. `MAX_CLIENTS` limits how many players join at once, and it can't be higher than the track's number of pits.

### Why is my new car not offered when I join?

Check that it is in `CARS`, that `entry_list.ini` has a free slot with `MODEL` set to it, and that the folder name matches exactly, including lowercase letters.

### Can I remove the default BMW?

Yes. Remove `bmw_m3_e30` from `CARS` and change or delete its `[CAR_x]` sections. Renumber the remaining sections from `CAR_0` without gaps.
