# BeamMP Server Console Commands (Full List)

> Every BeamMP server console command: kick, say, list, status, settings, lua, protectmod, reloadmods and more, with syntax and examples for FREAKHOSTING.

BeamMP server console commands are typed into the **Console** page of the FREAKHOSTING Game Panel without a slash. The main ones are `list` (players online), `kick <name> [reason]`, `say <message>` (chat to everyone), `status`, `settings`, `reloadmods` and `protectmod`. Type `help` to see the full list. BeamMP has no built-in chat commands for players; those need a Lua plugin.

| Where | Prefix | Needs | Version checked |
| - | - | - | - |
| Game Panel **Console** | None | Server running | BeamMP Server v3.9.3 |

## How to use a BeamMP console command

**1. Open the console**

Open your server in the [Game Panel](https://games.freakhosting.com) and click **Console**. See [the server console](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-use-the-server-console.md).

**2. Type the command**

Type the command in the input box at the bottom, for example `list`, and press Enter.

**3. Read the output**

The answer appears in the console and in `Server.log`.

## Full list of BeamMP console commands

| Command | What it does | Example |
| - | - | - |
| `help` | Shows the list of commands | `help` |
| `list` | Lists players with their name, ID and number of cars | `list` |
| `kick <name> [reason]` | Kicks a player, with an optional reason | `kick Driver42 Ramming` |
| `say <message>` | Sends a chat message to every player | `say Race starts in 5 minutes` |
| `status` | Shows how the server is doing: players, cars, guests and more | `status` |
| `settings [command]` | Reads or changes server settings (see below) | `settings list` |
| `lua [state id]` | Switches the console to Lua, optionally into one plugin's state | `lua` |
| `version` | Shows the server version | `version` |
| `protectmod <name> <true/false>` | Stops or allows sending a mod to players | `protectmod mycar.zip true` |
| `reloadmods` | Reloads all mods in `Resources/Client` | `reloadmods` |
| `clear` | Clears the console window | `clear` |
| `exit` | Shuts down the server | `exit` |

To stop the server, use the panel's **Stop** button rather than `exit`. If Stop takes longer than a minute, use **Kill**. See [start, stop and restart](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-start-stop-and-restart-your-game-server.md).

## How to use the settings command

| Command | What it does |
| - | - |
| `settings help` | Shows the settings help |
| `settings list` | Lists all settings |
| `settings get <category> <setting>` | Prints one setting, for example `settings get General MaxCars` |
| `settings set <category> <setting> <value>` | Changes a setting on the running server, for example `settings set General MaxCars 2` |

Changes made with `settings set` last until the next start. When the server starts, the panel writes the **Startup** values into `ServerConfig.toml` again. To keep a change, set it on **Startup** (or in the file for settings such as `Tags`; see [ServerConfig.toml explained](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/beammp/beammp-serverconfig-toml-explained.md)). ## How to use the Lua console

Type `lua` to switch the console to Lua. The prompt changes to `lua>` and anything you type runs as Lua code in the server, for example:

```lua theme={null}
print(MP.GetPlayers())
```

Type `:exit` to go back to normal commands, or `:help` for the Lua console's own help. Plugins are covered in [Lua events](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/beammp/creating-server-events-lua.md).

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I ban a player on BeamMP?

The console has `kick` but no ban command. Use a small Lua plugin that refuses the player on join; see [anti-grief protection](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/beammp/anti-grief-protection-no-collision.md).

### Can players use commands in chat?

Not by default. You can add chat commands such as `/help` with a Lua plugin; see [add chat commands](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/beammp/adding-chat-commands.md).

### Why does my command say "Unknown command"?

Check the spelling and leave out the slash. If the prompt shows `lua>`, you are in the Lua console: type `:exit` first.

### Where can I see what players typed in chat?

With **Chat logging** on (on **Startup**), chat is written to `Server.log`.
