# Don't Starve Together Server Guide: Setup, Token, Mods and Fixes

> Don't Starve Together dedicated server guide for FREAKHOSTING: Klei cluster token, setup, game modes, world settings, mods, admins, commands and fixes.

This Don't Starve Together dedicated server guide lists every FREAKHOSTING help page for DST. Your server runs the overworld and the Caves together, and you manage it on the **Game settings** page and the **Startup** page in the Game Panel. Before anything else, add a Klei cluster token on **Startup**: without it the server does not start. New here? ## How your DST server is set up

Settings marked `STARTUP` on **Game settings** are saved on the **Startup** page, and the server reads them every time it starts. After any change, click **Review and save**, then **Save changes**, and restart the server when the panel shows **Restart the server to apply your changes**.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why won't my Don't Starve Together server start?

Almost always because the Klei cluster token is missing or wrong. Check the console for `E_INVALID_TOKEN`, then paste a valid token into **Server Token** on **Startup** and restart. The panel can show **Online** even when the token is rejected, so trust the console.

### Does my DST server include the Caves?

Yes. The overworld and the Caves run together on your server, with no extra setup.

### How do players join my DST server?

From **Browse Games** in the game, by searching your **Server name**, or directly with `c_connect("203.0.113.10", 10999, "yourpassword")` in the game console, using your own IP and port.

### How many players can my DST server hold?

The number in **Player slots** on **Game settings**, which comes from your hosting plan. For more slots, [open a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php).

### How do I back up my DST world?

Use [Backups](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-create-and-restore-backups.md) in the Game Panel for a full copy, or [automatic backups](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-set-up-automatic-backups.md). In game, admins can also go back a few saves with `c_rollback`.
