# How to Change Your DST Server Name and Password

> Change your Don't Starve Together server name, description and password in Game settings on FREAKHOSTING, review the changes, save and restart the server.

To change your Don't Starve Together server name or password on FREAKHOSTING, open **Game settings** in the Game Panel, edit **Server name** and **Server description**, click **Set** next to **Server password** to add a password, then click **Review and save** and **Save changes**. Restart the server. Players then see the new name in **Browse Games** and must enter the password to join.

## Before you start

* Log in to the [Game Panel](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-login-and-access-the-game-panel.md) and open your server.
* Your server needs a valid [Klei cluster token](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/dont-starve-together/how-to-get-a-klei-cluster-token-for-dont-starve-together.md) to appear in the server list.

## How to change the server name and description

**1. Open Game settings**

Click **Game settings** under **GAME SETTINGS** in the sidebar.

**2. Edit the name**

In the **Server** section, change **Server name**. It is shown in the server list.

**3. Edit the description**

Change **Server description**. It is shown in the server details when players look at your server in **Browse Games**.

**4. Review and save**

Click **Review and save**. The **Review your changes** window shows each change. Click **Save changes**.

**5. Restart**

**Server name** and **Server description** carry a `STARTUP` label. That means they are saved on the **Startup** page as **Cluster Name** and **Cluster Description**, and the server reads them each time it starts. You can change them in either place.

## How to set a server password

**1. Find Server password**

In **Game settings** > **Server**, find **Server password**. It shows **not set** on an open server.

**2. Set the password**

Click **Set** and enter the password players need to join.

**3. Save and restart**

Click **Review and save**, then **Save changes**, and restart the server. Passwords are hidden in the review window.

To open the server to everyone again, remove the password so **Server password** is empty, save and restart. The **Checks** box at the top of **Game settings** then shows **Note: Anyone can join**.

## What is Server style?

**Server style** is in the **Network and saving** section. It tells players what kind of server yours is and is shown in the server list. The default is **Social**. In `cluster.ini` it is the `cluster_intention` key.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do players enter the password?

The game asks for it when they join from **Browse Games**. With direct connect, they add it as the third value: `c_connect("203.0.113.10", 10999, "yourpassword")`.

### Why didn't my new server name show up?

The server reads the name only when it starts. Restart it after saving. Also check the console for `E_INVALID_TOKEN`; a server that doesn't start can't show its name.

### Can I hide my server from the list?

**Game settings** has no option to hide an online server. Set a password to keep strangers out: they may see your server, but they can't join without the password.

### Can I change the number of player slots?

No. **Player slots** is fixed by your hosting plan. For more slots, [open a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php).
