To set up an Enshrouded dedicated server on FREAKHOSTING, open your server in the [Game Panel](https://games.freakhosting.com), click **Game settings** under **GAME SETTINGS**, set **Server name** and **Server password**, click **Review and save** and start the server. Players join from the in-game list: **Join**, turn on **Show dedicated servers** and search for your server name, then enter the password. | Difficulty | Time | Works on | Panel page | | - | - | - | - | | Beginner | 10 minutes | Every FREAKHOSTING Enshrouded server | **Game settings** | ## Before you start * Log in to the [Game Panel](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-login-and-access-the-game-panel.md). * Have Enshrouded on your PC through Steam, on the same version as the server. * Your character stays on your PC. You bring it to the server when you join. ## How to set up your Enshrouded server **1. Open Game settings** Open your server and click **Game settings** under **GAME SETTINGS**. **2. Name your server** Type a **Server name**. Players search the server list for this name. **3. Set your password** Click **Change** next to **Server password**, type your own password and click **Done**. The game makes a random password on first start, so replace it now. **4. Choose the game rules** Leave **Game rules preset** on **Default**, or pick **Relaxed**, **Hard**, **Survival** or **Custom**. See [Game settings](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/enshrouded/how-to-change-enshrouded-game-settings.md). **5. Turn on chat if you want it** Switch on **Text chat** and **Voice chat**. Both are off by default. **6. Save and start** Click **Review and save**, then **Save changes**. [Start the server](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-start-stop-and-restart-your-game-server.md), or click **Restart now** if it is already running. ## How do I know the server is ready? The first start takes about 45 seconds. Open the [console](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-use-the-server-console.md) and wait for these lines: ```text theme={null} [online] Server connected to Steam successfully [Session] finished transition from 'Lobby' to 'Host_Online' (current='Host_Online')! ``` When you see `[game_server] Switching state from LoadEcsScene to Run`, players can join. ## How to join your Enshrouded server | Method | What to do | | - | - | | In-game server list | **Join** > turn on **Show dedicated servers** in the server filter > search for your **Server name** > **Join** | | Steam favourite | In Steam: **View** > **Game Servers** > **Favorites** > **+**, enter your IP and query port, for example `203.0.113.10:9877`. Your server is then at the top of the in-game list | Your query port is on the **Startup** page under **\[SERVER] Steam Query Port**. Up to 16. **Player slots** in **Game settings** shows your server's limit. ### Do I need to keep my PC on? No. The dedicated server runs on its own, so friends can play while you are offline. ### Can I bring my character to the server? Yes. Characters are stored on each player's PC, not on the server, so you join with your own character. ### Can I play my single-player world on the server? It is possible to move a world, but the files must match the server's save format.
