# How to Export server_packages for Your ETS2 Server (DLC and Mods)

> Export server_packages.sii and .dat from Euro Truck Simulator 2 with export_server_packages, upload them to your server and run your DLC and mods in Convoy.

To run DLC or mods on a Euro Truck Simulator 2 dedicated server, export them from your own game: turn on the console, load your profile with the DLC and mods you want, press `~` and run `export_server_packages`. The game writes `server_packages.sii` and `server_packages.dat` to your ETS2 documents folder. Upload both to `.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2` on your server and restart.

| Difficulty | Time | Works on | Panel page |
| - | - | - | - |
| Intermediate | 10 to 15 minutes | Every FREAKHOSTING ETS2 server | **Files** |

## Before you start

* Install and activate the mods you want in the game's Mod Manager, on the profile you will export from.
* Your server's default packages contain the base map only: no DLC (`dlc_essential_list: 0`) and no mods (`mod_list: 0`).
* The server doesn't need the DLC or mod files. SCS says everything is handled by these two files, and they are not linked to your account.

## Step 1: Turn on the console in your game

**1. Close the game**

Close Euro Truck Simulator 2.

**2. Open config.cfg**

Open `config.cfg` in your ETS2 documents folder:

| System | Folder |
| - | - |
| Windows | `Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\` |
| Linux | `~/.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2/` |
| macOS | `~/Library/Application Support/Euro Truck Simulator 2/` |

**3. Enable the console**

Change these two lines to `"1"` and save:

```text theme={null}
uset g_developer "1"
uset g_console "1"
```

## Step 2: Export the packages

**1. Load your profile**

Start the game and load the profile that has your DLC and mods active. Drive into the world: the map must be loaded when you run the command.

**2. Run the command**

Press `~` to open the console, type the command and press Enter:

```text theme={null}
export_server_packages
```

**3. Find the files**

`server_packages.sii` and `server_packages.dat` appear in the same documents folder as `config.cfg`.

## Step 3: Upload them to your server

**1. Stop the server**

[Stop the server](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-start-stop-and-restart-your-game-server.md). Make a [backup](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-create-and-restore-backups.md) if you want to keep the old files.

**2. Upload both files**

In **Files**, open `.local` > `share` > `Euro Truck Simulator 2` and upload `server_packages.sii` and `server_packages.dat`, replacing the existing ones. Upload both: they belong together. See [File Manager](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-use-the-file-manager.md) or use [SFTP](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-connect-via-sftp.md).

**3. Start and check**

Start the server. If you exported mods, the [console](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-use-the-server-console.md) shows `[MP] Modded session:` with a value other than `No`.

## What players need afterwards

* **Mods:** every player needs the same mods. The Convoy browser lists what the server requires; Steam Workshop mods can be subscribed from there. See [mods on the server](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/euro-truck-simulator-2/managing-mods-for-ets2-server.md).
* **DLC:** see [DLC on the server](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/euro-truck-simulator-2/handling-missing-dlcs.md).
* **Changes later:** if you add or remove DLC or mods, export again and upload both files again.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why doesn't export\_server\_packages work?

Check that `g_console` is `"1"` in `config.cfg` (edit it with the game closed) and that you are driving in the world, not in a menu. SCS says the map must be loaded when you run the command.

### Do I upload my mod files to the server?

No. Only `server_packages.sii` and `server_packages.dat`. The `mod` folder on the server isn't needed for Convoy mods.

### Can I go back to no DLC and no mods?

Yes. Restore a backup taken before the upload, or export again from a profile with no mods active.

### I uploaded only the .sii file. Is that a problem?

Yes. Upload both files from the same export. They describe the same map and package set.
