# Icarus Dedicated Server Admin Commands (RCON List)

> Icarus dedicated server admin commands: AdminLogin, KickPlayer, BanPlayer, UnbanPlayer, ReturnToLobby, AdminSay and the lobby prospect commands, with examples.

Icarus dedicated server admin commands are typed in the in-game chat with a `/` or `\` in front, for example `/AdminLogin password12345`. Log in with `AdminLogin` first; then you can use `KickPlayer`, `BanPlayer`, `UnbanPlayer`, `ReturnToLobby`, `ReturnToLobbyWhenEmpty` and `AdminSay`. In the **Server Lobby**, `LoadProspect`, `CreateProspect` and `ResumeProspect` work without the slash.

## Icarus admin commands

Commands marked "Yes" need you to be logged in as admin.

| `KickPlayer <SteamId or name> [reason]` | Yes | Kicks a player. They can rejoin. | `/KickPlayer Alex AFK` |
| `BanPlayer <SteamId or name> [reason]` | Yes | Kicks a player and adds them to the ban list | `/BanPlayer 76561198000000000 Griefing` |
| `UnbanPlayer <SteamId or name>` | Yes | Removes a player from the ban list | `/UnbanPlayer 76561198000000000` |
| `ReturnToLobby` | Yes | Kicks all players and returns the server to the lobby | `/ReturnToLobby` |
| `ReturnToLobbyWhenEmpty` | Yes | Returns to the lobby as soon as the server is empty, instead of waiting for `ShutdownIfEmptyFor` | `/ReturnToLobbyWhenEmpty` |
| `AdminSay <message>` | Yes | Shows a message to all players, without your name | `/AdminSay Restart in 5 minutes` |

## Icarus lobby commands

Use these in the **Server Lobby**, before a prospect is loaded. You don't need the slash there.

| `LoadProspect <save name>` | Loads a prospect from `Icarus/Saved/PlayerData/DedicatedServer/Prospects/` | `LoadProspect FriendsOlympus` |
| `CreateProspect <type> <difficulty> <hardcore> <save name>` | Creates and starts a new prospect. Difficulty is 1 (easy) to 4 (extreme). | `CreateProspect Tier1_Forest_Recon_0 3 false TestProspect01` |
| `ResumeProspect` | Resumes the last prospect or outpost | `ResumeProspect` |

## How to find a player's Steam ID

Use the player name if it is unique. Otherwise ask the player for their Steam ID (the 17-digit number in their Steam profile address), or look it up in `Icarus/Saved/PlayerBanList.txt` after a ban.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I type these commands in the panel console?

Type them in the in-game chat. The panel [console](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-use-the-server-console.md) shows the server log.

### How do I restart the server from inside the game?

There is no restart command. Use **Restart** in the Game Panel, or `ReturnToLobby` if you only want to close the prospect.

### Do bans survive a restart?

Yes. Bans are saved in `PlayerBanList.txt` in `Icarus/Saved`, and banned players can't rejoin until you unban them.

### Are there cheat or spawn commands?

RocketWerkz's server docs list only the commands on this page, and none of them spawns items or changes resources.
