# How to Increase Max Player Slots in KF2

> Increase max player slots on your KF2 server beyond the default 6-player cap to host massive survival matches with up to 64 or 100 participants.

> Killing Floor 2 is balanced for 6-player cooperative play. However, many community servers prefer a "Chaos" environment with 32, 64, or even 100 players. While the engine supports these numbers, several technical steps are required to ensure the UI and scoreboard function correctly.

## 1. Configuration Changes

1. Open `PCServer-KFGame.ini`.
2. Locate the `MaxPlayers` variable:
   * `MaxPlayers=64`
3. Restart the server. Any player can now join via the `open IP` console command even if the server browser says 6/6.

## 2. Fixing the Scoreboard (Mutators)

By default, the game UI will only show the first 6 players. To see everyone, you must install a "Large Player UI" or "MaxPlayers" mutator from the Workshop.

* These mods modify the `KFGame.u` or use a custom HUD class to display more than 6 rows on the status screen.

  With 64 players, the standard amount of Zeds makes the game trivial. To keep the challenge alive, we strongly recommend combining high player counts with the [Controlled Difficulty mutator](/games/killing-floor-2/installing-controlled-difficulty) to increase the spawn rates proportionally.
