# How to Customize Server Name and Branding in MORDHAU

> Customize your MORDHAU server name with rich text formatting and configure the Message of the Day to engage your medieval combat community effectively.

> In Mordhau's server browser, having a clear and professional name is the first step to attracting players. While Mordhau does not officially support colored text in the main browser list (Rich Text), you can use tactical naming and a high-quality Message of the Day (MOTD) to leave a lasting impression.

## 1. Setting the Server Name

1. Navigate to your FREAKHOSTING **Startup** tab.
2. Locate the **Server Name** field.
3. Use a clear format (e.g., `FREAKHOSTING | 1v1 Duel | 120 Tick | US East`).
4. Avoid using non-standard symbols that might cause your server to be filtered out by player search preferences.

## 2. The Graphical MOTD

Unlike the browser name, the **Message of the Day (MOTD)** supports external links and images. This appears when a player is in the loading screen.

1. Open `Game.ini` via the File Manager.
2. Search for the `[/Script/Mordhau.MordhauGameMode]` section.
3. Edit the following variable:
   * `MotdURL=http://your-image-link.com/banner.png`
4. Set a relevant `WebsiteURL=` to link your Discord or community site.
