# MTA Anti-Cheat Settings: disableac, enablesd and Custom Skins

> MTA anti-cheat settings explained: turn anti-cheats off (disableac), add special detections (enablesd), allow custom skins and keep serial protection on.

MTA:SA has a built-in anti-cheat that is fully on by default. On FREAKHOSTING you adjust it in **Game settings** > **Security and anti-cheat**: **Anti-cheats to turn off** (`disableac`) lists anti-cheat numbers to disable, **Special detections to turn on** (`enablesd`) adds extra checks, and **Allow custom skins** (`allow_gta3_img_mods`) lets players use modified skins. Leave them empty and **No** unless you have a reason.

| Panel field | Key | Fresh value |
| - | - | - |
| **Anti-cheats to turn off** | `disableac` | Empty (all on) |
| **Special detections to turn on** | `enablesd` | Empty |
| **Allow custom skins** | `allow_gta3_img_mods` | **No** (`none`) |
| **ACL groups protected by serial** | `auth_serial_groups` | Admin |
| **Protect the web interface the same way** | `auth_serial_http` | On |

## How to change anti-cheat settings

**1. Open the section**

Open **Game settings** and scroll to **Security and anti-cheat**.

**2. Enter the numbers**

Type the numbers separated by commas, for example `31,32` in **Special detections to turn on**. The panel marks **Anti-cheats to turn off** as **CAREFUL** and warns: "Turning anti-cheats off lets cheaters in."

**3. Review, save and restart**

Click **Review and save**, then **Save changes**, and [restart the server](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-start-stop-and-restart-your-game-server.md).

## Which anti-cheats can I turn off?

From MTA's anti-cheat guide. Turn one off only if it wrongly blocks your players, for example because of a mod your server allows.

| Number | Detects |
| - | - |
| 1 | Health and armour hacks |
| 2 | Corrupted DLL files |
| 4 | General security violation (prohibited tools) |
| 5 | Trainers |
| 6 | Trainers affecting movement, health, weapons, money, game speed or aim |
| 7 | Trainers |
| 8 | Unauthorised mods |
| 11 | More trainers, DLL injectors |
| 13 | Data file issues |
| 17 | Speed or wall hacks |
| 18 | Modified game files |
| 21 | More trainers, custom `gta_sa.exe` |
| 26 | Anti-cheat component blocked |

## Which special detections can I turn on?

Special detections block things that aren't cheats as such but that some servers don't want.

| Number | Blocks |
| - | - |
| 12 | A custom `d3d9.dll` (this also breaks graphics mods such as ENB) |
| 14 | Virtual machines such as VMware |
| 15 | Disabled driver signing |
| 16 | Disabled anti-cheat components |
| 20 | Non-standard `gta3.img` or `gta_int.img` |
| 22 | Resource download errors or corrupted Lua script files |
| 23 | Resource download errors or corrupted non-Lua files (PNG, DFF and so on) |
| 28 | Linux Wine |
| 31 | Injected keyboard input, such as AutoHotkey |
| 32 | Injected mouse input |
| 33 | Net limiter software (lag switching) |
| 34 | Internet café users |
| 35 | Software with FPS-locking features |
| 36 | The AutoHotkey application and compiled AutoHotkey programs |

Special detections can lock out honest players, for example 28 blocks everyone who plays through Wine on Linux. Add them one at a time.

## Should I allow custom skins?

**Allow custom skins** has two options: **No** and **Peds**. **Peds** lets players join with locally modified player skins in `gta3.img`. The panel notes it is not for competitive servers.

## Why keep serial protection on?

**ACL groups protected by serial** makes admin accounts work only from serials you approve with `authserial`. A leaked admin password is then useless on another PC. **Protect the web interface the same way** applies the same check to the web interface. The panel warns that turning serial protection off weakens admin security and can affect your server's visibility in the master list. ## Frequently asked questions

### A player gets kicked with an AC number. What does it mean?

Look up the number in the tables above. Usually the player has a tool or modified file on their PC that they need to remove; turning the anti-cheat off lets cheaters in too.

### How do I stop AutoHotkey macros?

Add special detections `31,32` to ignore injected keyboard and mouse input, or `36` to block the AutoHotkey program itself.

### Does MTA's anti-cheat stop every cheat?

No anti-cheat does. Keep **Update the oldest allowed client** on as well; the panel notes that updating keeps cheaters out. See [client versions](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/multi-theft-auto/mta-client-version-requirements.md).
