Both are multiplayer mods for GTA San Andreas. open.mp is the newer, backwards-compatible server: according to [open.mp](https://open.mp/), old SA-MP `.amx` scripts load without changes and players on the SA-MP client can join. It uses `config.json` instead of `server.cfg`. ### How do players join my open.mp server? With the address from **Overview**, added to favourites in the [open.mp launcher](https://open.mp/downloads/launcher) or the SA-MP 0.3.7 client, or by finding your server in the server list. ### Can I run my own gamemode? Yes. Upload the compiled `.amx` to `gamemodes/` and enter its name in **Game modes**. Turn on **Enable RCON** in **Game settings**, restart and type `/rcon login yourpassword` in game.
