# How to Join Your RedM Server (Direct Connect and Server List)

> How to join a RedM server: press F8 in RedM and type connect with your IP and port 30120, or find it in the server list. Fixes if it doesn't show or connect.

To join your RedM server, start RedM, press **F8** to open the client console and type `connect` followed by your server address, for example `connect 203.0.113.10:30120`. Your address is shown at the top of every server page in the Game Panel. You can also search for your server's name in the RedM server list once it is running.

| Difficulty | Time | Default port | What you need |
| - | - | - | - |
| Beginner | 1 minute | `30120` | Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC and the RedM client |

## How to join with direct connect

**1. Copy your address**

Open your server in the [Game Panel](https://games.freakhosting.com). Copy the IP and port shown at the top of the page, for example `203.0.113.10:30120`.

**2. Check the server is running**

Click **Console**. The server must be running, with no licence key error.

**3. Open the RedM console**

Start RedM and press **F8**. The client console opens.

**4. Connect**

Type the command and press **Enter**:

```text theme={null}
connect 203.0.113.10:30120
```

The `connect` command connects to a server by IP address and port, or by URL, according to the [Cfx.re client console commands](https://docs.fivem.net/docs/client-manual/console-commands/). If your server has a [subdomain](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-manage-network-and-subdomains.md), you can use that instead of the IP.

## How to find your server in the server list

Open RedM and search the server list for your server name or project name. A new server can take a few minutes to appear after it starts. If it shows the template name, change it on [Server config](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/redm/configuring-servercfg-for-redm.md), or set your listing details on the [Cfx.re Portal](https://portal.cfx.re/servers), which Cfx.re now uses for server list details.

## Why can't I find or join my RedM server?

| What you see | Cause | Fix |
| - | - | - |
| Server stops after starting | Licence key missing or wrong | See [server not starting](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/redm/redm-server-not-starting.md). |
| Not in the server list | Server just started, or still has template details | Wait a few minutes, check the name, and join by direct connect meanwhile. |
| Connect button disabled in the list | `sv_master1 ""` in `server.cfg` | Remove that line. Cfx.re says it disables joining from the server browser but does not remove the server from the list. |
| Server full | **Max Players** reached | **Max Players** is set by your plan. For more slots, [open a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php). See [OneSync](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/redm/configuring-onesync.md). |
| Timed out while loading | A resource fails on the client | Check the **Console** for errors, then stop recently added resources on [Resources](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/redm/how-to-install-resources-on-your-redm-server.md). |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Players join on the game port (`30120`), never on the txAdmin port (`40120`).

## Frequently asked questions

### What is my RedM server IP?

The IP and port at the top of every server page in the Game Panel, for example `203.0.113.10:30120`.

### Can I join with a domain name?

Yes. Create a subdomain under **Subdomain** in the panel and use it with `connect`. See [how to manage network and subdomains](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/how-to-manage-network-and-subdomains.md).

### How do I make my RedM server private?

Set a whitelist with your framework, for example VORP's whitelist commands. Setting `sv_master1 ""` only disables the connect button in the server browser; Cfx.re says it does not remove the server from the list.

### Why does the server list still show "FiveM" in my server name?

The default `server.cfg` comes from the shared Cfx.re template. Change **Server name** on **Server config** and update your listing on the Cfx.re Portal.
