# How to Join a Risk of Rain 2 Dedicated Server

> How to join a Risk of Rain 2 dedicated server: copy the address from the Network page, then use Steam's Game Servers list or the connect console command.

To join a Risk of Rain 2 dedicated server, copy the address from the **Network** page in the Game Panel (for example `203.0.113.10:27015`). Then either find the server in Steam under **View** > **Game Servers** and double-click it, or open the game console with **Ctrl + Alt + \~** and type `connect "203.0.113.10:27015"`. For a passworded server, set `cl_password` first.

## Before you start

* The server is running. Check the state on the [dashboard](https://help.freakhosting.com/portals/game-panel/game-panel-dashboard-overview.md).
* Every player has Risk of Rain 2 on Steam, on the same game version as the server.

## How to find your server address

**1. Open Network**

Open your server in the [Game Panel](https://games.freakhosting.com) and click **Network** under **MANAGEMENT**.

**2. Copy the primary address**

Click **Copy** next to the allocation marked **PRIMARY**. This is the game port, for example `203.0.113.10:27015`. The second port is the query port, which Steam uses to read your server's details. Players don't join on it.

## How to join from the Steam server list

**1. Open Game Servers**

In the Steam client, click **View** > **Game Servers**.

**2. Filter for Risk of Rain 2**

Open the **Internet** tab and set the game filter to Risk of Rain 2.

**3. Join**

Find your **Server Hostname** and double-click it. Steam starts the game and connects you.

## How to join with the console

The developer console is off until you open it once with a key combination. On UK and US keyboards press **Ctrl + Alt + \~**. After that, **\~** opens and closes it.

If the server has a password, send the password first, on the same line:

cl_password "<password>"; connect "<address>:<port>"
```

```

## How many players can join?

Risk of Rain 2 is made for you and up to three friends, and `sv_maxplayers` defaults to 4. **Max Players** on **Startup** shows the slots in your plan and is read only. For more slots, [open a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php).

## Frequently asked questions

### Why can't I see my server in the Steam list?

Check that **Advertise Server** is on in **Startup** and that the server is running, then restart it. You can always join with `connect`. See [not showing in the list](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/risk-of-rain-2/risk-of-rain-2-server-not-showing-in-list.md).

### Which port do I use to join?

The **PRIMARY** port on the **Network** page. The other port is the query port and is not for joining.

### How do I join a server with a password?

Type `cl_password "yourpassword"; connect "203.0.113.10:27015"` in the console, with your own password and address. See [set a password](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/risk-of-rain-2/setting-a-password-on-your-risk-of-rain-2-server.md).

### Can I use the connect command on a console?

No. Console platforms can't open the developer console, so the `connect` method only works on PC.
