# Satisfactory Dedicated Server Max Players: Why the Limit Is 4

> Satisfactory dedicated servers allow 4 players by default, and the game is tuned for 4. On FREAKHOSTING, Player slots is fixed at 4 by your hosting plan.

A Satisfactory dedicated server allows 4 players at once by default, and the server is tuned for that number. On a FREAKHOSTING Satisfactory server, **Player slots** on the **Game settings** page is set to 4 and fixed by your hosting plan, so you can't change it in the panel. More than 4 players can make the server unstable and use much more memory and CPU.

| Fact | Value |
| - | - |
| Satisfactory default | 4 players |
| FREAKHOSTING setting | **Player slots** 4, fixed by your hosting plan |
| Where you see it | **Game settings** > **Server**, and **Max Players** (read-only) on **Startup** |
| Game's own limit | Up to 127 is theoretically possible, but not practical |

## Why is the Satisfactory player limit 4?

The official Satisfactory Wiki says the dedicated server is "tuned to be most performant with the default player cap of four" and that a higher limit "may have negative effects on server stability, performance, and resource usage." The panel shows the same warning on **Player slots**: "More than the default of 4 players can make the server unstable and use much more memory."

## Where can I see the player limit?

**1. Open Game settings**

In the [Game Panel](https://games.freakhosting.com), open your server and click **Game settings** under **GAME SETTINGS**.

**2. Check Player slots**

Under **Server**, **Player slots** shows 4 with the note "This setting is fixed by your hosting plan."

The **Startup** page also lists **\[Experimental] Max Players** as 4. It is read-only.

## What if I need more than 4 players?

[Open a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php) and tell us how many players you expect. Bear in mind that big factories with many players need much more memory and CPU; see [performance and lag](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/satisfactory/satisfactory-server-performance-and-lag.md).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I change the player limit myself?

No. The player limit on your server is set by your plan, so **Player slots** and **Max Players** are locked.

### Does the 4-player limit count me?

Yes. It is the number of players online at the same time, including you.

### Can more people use the server if they take turns?

Yes. The limit only counts players online at once. Anyone with the address (and player password, if set) can join while a slot is free.
