# Squad Admin Commands List for Server Admins

> Squad admin commands list: open the admin console by double-tapping ~, then kick, ban, warn, broadcast, change layer and move players, with examples.

Squad admin commands are typed in the in-game admin console, which you open by double-tapping the `~` key, or sent over RCON. You must be listed in `Admins.cfg` with the right access level, such as `kick`, `ban` or `changemap`. The most used commands are `AdminKick`, `AdminBan`, `AdminBroadcast`, `AdminChangeLayer` and `ListPlayers`.

## How to open the Squad admin console

**1. Be an admin**

Add your SteamID64 to `Admins.cfg`. See [add admins](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/squad/how-to-add-admins-to-your-squad-server.md).

**2. Open the console**

In game, double-tap `~`. If that key doesn't work on your keyboard layout, press the all-chat key (`J` by default), delete the `ChatToAll` text with Backspace, and the console opens.

**3. Type the command**

Type the command and press Enter. Use the up and down arrow keys to repeat earlier commands.

## Match and map commands

| Change layer now | `AdminChangeLayer <LayerName>` | Changes to the layer immediately |
| Set next layer | `AdminSetNextLayer <LayerName>` | Sets the layer after this match |
| Restart match | `AdminRestartMatch` | Restarts the current match |
| End match | `AdminEndMatch` | Ends the match immediately |
| Pause | `AdminPauseMatch` / `AdminUnpauseMatch` | Puts the match on hold and back |
| Slow motion | `AdminSlomo <TimeDilation>` | `AdminSlomo 1` is normal speed, `0.5` is half |

## Server commands

| Broadcast | `AdminBroadcast <Message>` | Message to all players |
| Message admins | `ChatToAdmin <Message>` | Message to admins only |
| Password | `AdminSetServerPassword <Password>` | Sets a server password; `""` removes it |
| Queue limit | `AdminSetPublicQueueLimit <value>` | `0` blocks public joins, `-1` is unlimited |

## Commands every player can use

## How to ban a player in Bans.cfg

You can also ban players by hand in `SquadGame/ServerConfig/Bans.cfg` while the server is stopped. Each line is `<SteamID64>:<expiry>`, where the expiry is a Unix timestamp and `0` is permanent. Text after `//` is a comment. The file must end with an empty line.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why does my Squad admin command do nothing?

Your group in `Admins.cfg` needs the matching access level, for example `ban` for `AdminBan` or `changemap` for `AdminChangeLayer`. Restart the server after editing `Admins.cfg`.

### How do I unban a player on my Squad server?

Stop the server, open `SquadGame/ServerConfig/Bans.cfg`, delete the line with the player's SteamID64, save and start the server.

### Can I type admin commands in the panel console?

Use the in-game admin console or an [RCON tool](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/squad/how-to-set-up-rcon-on-your-squad-server.md). The panel console shows the server log.

### How do I find a player's ID?

Type `ListPlayers` in the console. It shows each player's ID, name and SteamID.
