# How to Upload a Local World in Valheim

> Upload your singleplayer Valheim world to a dedicated server. Learn which files to transfer, the correct directory paths, and how to activate your world.

> Valheim worlds comprise two distinct files: the `.db` (Database) file containing the world state, and the `.fwl` (Metadata) file containing world info. To transition from singleplayer to a dedicated server, you must migrate both files simultaneously.

## Locating Your Files

Traditionally, Valheim uses Steam Cloud for saves. You must first ensure they are available locally on your PC.

1. **Move to Local:** In the Valheim main menu, select your world and click **"Move to Local"** if it is currently in the cloud.
2. **Path:** Navigate to your local AppData folder:
   `%appdata%/../LocalLow/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local/`
3. **Identify:** Find your `WorldName.db` and `WorldName.fwl`.

## Server Deployment

1. **Connect via SFTP:** Use an FTP client to access your FREAKHOSTING server files.
2. **Directory:** Upload your two files to the following path:
   `/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local/`
   *(Note: If the directory doesn't exist, start the server once to generate it.)*
3. **Startup Config:** In your **Startup** tab, update the **World Name** variable to match your uploaded filename exactly (Case-Sensitive).
4. **Restart:** Boot the server to load the new world.
