# Valheim Console Commands and Devcommands List for Servers

> Valheim console commands: press F5, use admin commands like kick, ban and setworldmodifier on your server, and see which devcommands work offline.

Open the Valheim console with **F5**. On a FREAKHOSTING dedicated server, players on **Admins and bans** can use admin commands such as `kick`, `ban`, `unban`, `banned`, `save`, `setworldmodifier` and `setworldpreset`. Cheat commands (`god`, `ghost`, `debugmode`, `spawn` and others) need `devcommands` and work in single player or on a world you host from the game, not on a dedicated server.

## How to open the Valheim console

* **Keyboard:** press **F5**.
* **If F5 does nothing:** turn on the developer console in the game's settings menu, or add `-console` to Valheim's Steam launch options (right-click Valheim > **Properties** > **General** > **Launch options**). The launch option overrides the setting.

## Commands for every player

| Command | What it does |

| `help` | Lists the available commands. |
| `info` | Prints system information. |
| `ping` | Measures your latency to the server. |

## Admin commands on a dedicated server

You must be on the **Admins** tab of **Admins and bans** ([admin list](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/valheim/managing-the-valheim-admin-list.md)).

| `kick [name/ip/userID]` | `kick Ragnar` | Kicks a player. |
| `ban [name/ip/userID]` | `ban Ragnar` | Bans a player. |
| `unban [name/ip/userID]` | `unban 76561198000000001` | Removes a ban. |
| `banned` | `banned` | Lists banned players. |
| `save` | `save` | Saves the world now. |
| `setworldmodifier [modifier] [value]` | `setworldmodifier raids less` | Changes a world modifier. |
| `setworldpreset [preset]` | `setworldpreset casual` | Applies a preset; `default` resets modifiers. |
| `listkeys` | `listkeys` | Lists the world's keys (shown on a dedicated server). |
| `resetworldkeys` | `resetworldkeys` | Resets world keys. |
| `sleep` | `sleep` | Skips to the next day. |
| `skiptime [seconds]` | `skiptime 600` | Skips time forward. |
| `players [number]` | `players 3` | Sets the difficulty scaling as if this many players were near. `0` resets it. |

## Devcommands cheats (single player and hosted worlds)

Type `devcommands` and press Enter to turn cheats on; type it again to turn them off.

| `god` | God mode. |
| `ghost` | Enemies ignore you. |
| `debugmode` | Debug mode: **B** free building, **Z** fly, **K** kill nearby creatures. |
| `freefly` | Free camera. |
| `pos` | Shows your coordinates. |
| `goto [x] [y] [z]` | Teleports to coordinates (`y` is optional). |
| `spawn [item] [amount] [level]` | Spawns an item or creature. |
| `tame` | Tames nearby creatures. |
| `killall` | Kills nearby enemies and creatures, tamed ones too. |
| `removedrops` | Removes dropped items nearby. |
| `raiseskill [skill] [amount]` | Raises a skill. |
| `resetskill [skill]` | Sets a skill to 0. |
| `heal` | Full health. |
| `event [name]` / `stopevent` / `randomevent` | Starts or stops events (raids). |
| `tod [0-1]` | Sets time of day (0.5 is noon, -1 resets). |
| `exploremap` / `resetmap` | Reveals or hides the whole map. |

> [!WARNING]
>
> In Valheim 1.0, using most devcommands puts a permanent flag on your character and the world that blocks achievements. `freefly` is an exception. Iron Gate added a Steam-only opt-in command to allow achievements anyway.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do devcommands work on a Valheim dedicated server?

Cheat commands don't work on a dedicated server, even for admins. Admin commands such as `kick`, `ban` and `setworldmodifier` do. See [ghost mode and debug fly](https://help.freakhosting.com/games/valheim/using-ghost-mode-and-debugfly.md).

### Why does the console not open when I press F5?

The console is off in your game. Turn it on in the settings menu or add `-console` to the Steam launch options.

### How do I find a player's ID to ban them?

Use their SteamID64 from [steamid.io](https://steamid.io), or the ID shown in the game's **F2** panel. Bans on **Admins and bans** use SteamID64s.
