# How to Link Your Discord Account

> Link Discord to your FREAKHOSTING account to join our community, unlock customer roles and get service alerts as direct messages.

Linking Discord lets you join the FREAKHOSTING community with your customer roles and get important alerts as Discord direct messages.

## Link your account

**1. Open Discord settings**

Go to the [**Discord**](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/index.php?m=fhdiscord) page, or click **Manage** on the **Discord** card on the Home dashboard.

**2. Connect**

Click the button to connect, sign in to Discord and approve the request.

**3. Check your roles**

Your Discord name, whether you're **In server**, and **Your roles** (for example **Verified Client**) appear on the page.

## Choose your Discord alerts

On the [Discord page](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/index.php?m=fhdiscord), under **Direct message alerts**, tick what you'd like to receive, then click **Save preferences**:

| Alert | What you get |
| :- | :- |
| **Service is ready** | A message when a new server or service finishes setting up. |
| **New invoices** | The amount, due date and a link to pay. |
| **Suspensions** | Why a service was suspended and how to fix it. |
| **News & offers** | Occasional announcements, never spam. |

> To get direct messages, allow messages from server members in your Discord privacy settings for the FREAKHOSTING server.

## Manage the connection

| Button | When to use it |
| :- | :- |
| **Open Discord** | Jump to the [FREAKHOSTING Discord server](https://discord.gg/freakhosting). |
| **Sync roles now** | Your roles look wrong, for example after ordering a new service. |
| **Reconnect** | Refresh the link, or enable auto-join and profile updates. |
| **Disconnect** | Unlink your Discord account. |
