# How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

> Protect your FREAKHOSTING account with two-factor authentication, link Google for one-click sign-in, and control Single Sign-On.

**Two-factor authentication (2FA)** asks for a code from your phone as well as your password when you log in. Even if someone learns your password, they can't get in without your phone.

## Turn on two-factor authentication

**1. Install an authenticator app**

Install an app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or 1Password on your phone.

**2. Open Security Settings**

Go to [**Security Settings**](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/user/security), or click **your name** (top right) and choose **Security Settings**.

**3. Start setup**

Under **Two-Factor Authentication**, click **Enable Two-Factor Authentication**.

**4. Scan the QR code**

Follow the on-screen steps: scan the QR code with your authenticator app, then type the 6-digit code it shows to confirm.

**5. Save your backup code**

Write down or securely store the backup code you're shown. You'll need it if you lose your phone.

> The status changes from **Disabled** to enabled. From now on, you'll enter a code from your app each time you log in.

## Sign in with Google

Under **Linked Accounts** in [**Security Settings**](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/user/security), click **Sign in with Google** to connect your Google account. After that, you can log in with one click. We only use it to verify who you are and never post on your behalf.

To disconnect it, click **Unlink** next to the account in the list.

## Single Sign-On for connected apps

**Single Sign-On** lets our other panels open your Billing Area without asking you to log in again.

**1. Open Account Security**

Go to [**Account Security**](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/clientarea.php?action=security), or click **your name** and choose **Account Security**.

**2. Choose ON or OFF**

Leave **Single Sign-On** **ON** for convenience, or switch it **OFF** if you've given people access to other panels and don't want them reaching your billing account.
