# How to Upgrade or Downgrade Your Service

> Scale your FREAKHOSTING hosting plan up or down effortlessly. Learn how to adjust your resources while maintaining your data integrity.

## Modifying Your Service Plan

At FREAKHOSTING, your resource requirements can evolve as your project grows or as community activity fluctuates. You can scale your hosting plan up or down, or adjust individual add-ons, directly from the Client Area, with no manual data migration required.

## How to Open the Upgrade/Downgrade Page

  <Step title="Open My Services">
    Log in to the [Client Area](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea) and go to **Services → My Services** in the left sidebar.

  <Step title="Open the Service">
    Click the **Actions** button next to the service and choose **Manage**, or click the service name, to open its **Product Details** page.

  <Step title="Click Upgrade/downgrade">
    In the service's management actions (next to *Renew Service* and *Request Cancellation*), click **Upgrade/downgrade**. This opens the **Upgrade/Downgrade** page, which has two tabs: **Change Package** and **Configurable Options**.

  <Step title="Choose What to Change">
    Use **Change Package** to move to a different plan tier, or **Configurable Options** to adjust add-ons on your current plan (both explained below).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm and Pay">
    Review the summary and the prorated amount, then confirm. An invoice is generated, and your service is updated automatically once it has been paid.

## Change Package vs. Configurable Options

The Upgrade/Downgrade page is split into two tabs, depending on what you want to change.

    The **Change Package** tab lists the plans you can switch to (for example, Budget VPS **BVPS-1** through **BVPS-10**). Each option shows its resources (vCPU, RAM, NVMe storage, and network), plus the security and control-panel features included.

    Pricing is displayed for the **1, 3, 6, and 12-month** terms so you can compare costs. Choose the plan that fits your needs and click **Choose Product** to continue.

  <Tab title="Configurable Options">
    The **Configurable Options** tab lets you fine-tune your *current* plan without switching tiers. For each row, leave the **New Configuration** dropdown on **No Change**, or pick a new value, then click **Continue**. Common options include:

    * **Location**: move your service to a different region (for example, Frankfurt or Los Angeles).
    * **IP Addresses**: add extra dedicated IPs, priced per additional IP.

## Prorated Billing Mechanics

We use a transparent prorated billing system so you only pay for the resources you use.

    When upgrading to a more powerful plan, you are invoiced only for the price difference between your current plan and the new one, for the remaining days of your current billing cycle.

  <Accordion title="Downgrading your service">
    When downgrading to a lower tier, the change typically takes effect on your next renewal. If you would like a prorated account credit for time already paid on the higher-tier plan, [submit a ticket](https://freakhosting.com/clientarea/submitticket.php) to our Billing Department.

  If an upcoming renewal invoice has already been generated for your current plan, settle that invoice **before** starting a plan modification to prevent synchronization errors in our billing system.
