Setting up a dedicated competitive (War) server ensures that all tournament-standard rules are applied automatically, creating a fair environment for 5v5 scrims.

Core Server Settings

Edit your server.cfg located in /cstrike/cfg/ to ensure your administrative access is secured:
  • rcon_password: Set a strong password to execute commands mid-match (e.g., rcon_password "MySecretTeam").

Creating the War Config (war.cfg)

Create a specialized configuration file named war.cfg in your /cfg/ folder to apply the following tournament rules: 
mp_maxrounds 15         // Rounds before side swap
mp_freezetime 15        // Strategic planning time
mp_startmoney 800       // Standard starting funds
mp_roundtime 1.75       // Tournament round duration
mp_friendlyfire 1       // Enable FF for realism

Executing the Match

Once your players have joined the lobby, open your console and type:
  • rcon exec war
  • The server will instantly reload with your competitive settings, allowing you to begin the match.
