Counter-Strike: Source server commands run in the Game Panel Console without any prefix, for example changelevel de_inferno or mp_roundtime 3. From the game, set the RCON password in Game settings and type rcon before each command. Typing a cvar name on its own shows its value, default and limits. Console changes are lost at restart unless you save them in server.cfg.

How to run commands

In the Game Panel: open Console, type the command and press Enter. See the server console. From the game with rcon:
  1. Set an RCON password in Game settings and restart.
  2. In your game console, type once:

How to check a value

Type the cvar name alone. The server answers with the current value, the game default and the allowed range. For example, on a FREAKHOSTING server mp_roundtime answers with the value 5, the default 2.5, a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 9.

How to turn on sv_cheats

sv_cheats 1 turns on cheat commands such as noclip and god for every player on the server. Use it only on a private server for testing or practice.
  • For good: turn on Cheats in Game settings > Security and downloads, save and restart. The panel shows the warning “With cheats on, every player can use cheat commands.”
  • For now: type sv_cheats 1 in the console. Type sv_cheats 0 to turn it off.

Why are my console changes gone after a restart?

The server reads server.cfg at every start. Save lasting changes in Game settings, or add the line to /cstrike/cfg/server.cfg. See server.cfg explained.

Why does rcon say “Bad RCON password”?

The rcon_password in your game doesn’t match the RCON password on the server, or you didn’t restart after setting it. Type rcon_password again with the exact value.

Can I ban players without SourceMod?

The base game has banid and addip, but they are hard to manage. SourceMod’s sm_ban is easier and keeps a ban list. See add admins.
