Data Synchronization Failed

“You were kicked from the game (VerifySignatures failed)” is the most frequent obstacle in DayZ modding. It indicates a version mismatch or a missing security key between the client and the server.

The Root Causes

  • Missing Key: The server has the mod files but is missing the .bikey in the /keys/ folder.
  • Mod Update: A mod was updated on Steam, but your server is still running the older version.
  • Corruption: A specific player’s mod download is corrupted or contains extra localized files.

Owner’s Checklist (Server-Side)

  1. Verify Keys: Every folder in your -mod= startup line must have its corresponding .bikey present in the server’s root /keys/ directory.
  2. Force Update: Restart your server. FREAKHOSTING’s panel will automatically check for Steam Workshop updates during the boot sequence and pull the latest versions.
  3. Copy New Keys: Some mod updates change their key file name. Always re-copy the .bikey from the mod’s Keys folder to the /keys/ directory after a major update.

Identifying the Victim

  • If everyone is kicked: It is a server-side problem (Missing Key or Global Update).
  • If only one player is kicked: It is a client-side problem. Advise them to “Verify Game Files” in Steam.
