Metamod is the foundation upon which almost all Counter-Strike 1.6 plugins are built. It acts as a primary handler, allowing multiple mods like AMX Mod X, Reunion, and engine fixes to run simultaneously.

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Create Directory: Create the path /cstrike/addons/metamod/dlls/ on your server.
  2. Upload: Upload the Metamod binary (e.g., metamod.dll for Windows or metamod_i386.so for Linux).
  3. Activation: Open /cstrike/liblist.gam and locate the gamedll entry. Change it to point to Metamod: Example: gamedll "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod.dll"

Verifying the Installation

After restarting your server, type the following into the server console:
  • meta version
  • If Metamod is correctly installed, the console will reply with the version number and build date.

Metamod-P

We recommend using Metamod-P, a community-maintained “portable” version of Metamod that is highly optimized for modern processors and 1000 FPS server environments.
