Enshrouded dedicated servers don’t have a whitelist of player names or Steam IDs. You control who joins with passwords: every player group in enshrouded_server.json has its own password, and only players who know one can join. Set the main password in Game settings > Server password in the Game Panel, give trusted players a separate Admin or Friend password, and ban anyone who misbehaves.

How to make your Enshrouded server private

Set your own password

Open Game settings, click Change next to Server password, enter a new password and click Done. See set a server password.

Save and restart

Click Review and save, Save changes and Restart now.

Share it carefully

Give the password only to players you want on the server.
Your server still appears in the in-game list, but nobody can join without a password.

How to let the public in safely

If you run a public or community server, keep two passwords:
  1. A Guest or Visitor group for the password you share publicly. Turn off chests, base editing and, for a Visitor group, changing the world (canEditWorld).
  2. A Friend or Admin group with a private password for trusted players.
Add the extra groups in enshrouded_server.json. See roles and admin permissions for the exact keys. You can also limit the “Default” group in Game settings under Player group “Default”, for example turn off Can open chests and inventories and Can change bases.

What to do if the wrong person gets in

  1. A player in a group with Can kick and ban kicks or bans them in game. A ban keeps them out until an admin removes it.
  2. Change the password they used, save and restart.
  3. If they damaged your base, restore a backup.

Can I whitelist players by Steam ID?

No. Enshrouded has no Steam ID whitelist for dedicated servers. Use passwords and roles.

Can I hide my server from the list?

The settings file has no option to hide the server from the in-game list. A password keeps it private.

How many players can join?

Up to 16. Player slots in Game settings shows your limit, which is set by your hosting plan.
