Securing Your Session

Managing who can enter your world is essential for maintaining a positive community experience. While Enshrouded is in Early Access, the built-in management tools are currently streamlined to focus on password-based security.

Current Security Methods

The Global Password

As of the latest build, the primary (and most reliable) security measure is the server-wide password defined in enshrouded_server.json.
  • SteamID Whitelisting: There is currently no official vanilla command for a SteamID-based whitelist (e.g., whitelist.json).

Community Alternatives

For server hosts who require advanced moderation (IP banning or SteamID restriction), we recommend exploring:
  • Third-Party Wrappers: Tools created by the community that wrap the Enshrouded executable to provide extended admin controls.
  • Moderator Plugins: If you use a community management framework, you can often manually ban users via the framework’s database.

Future Updates

Keen Games (the developers of Enshrouded) have indicated that more robust administrator tools and whitelisting features are on the development roadmap. We recommend setting a strong, unique password as your primary defense for now.
