When a player joins a RAGE:MP server, the launcher downloads your client_packages from the server’s HTTP port, the game port + 1 (22006 by default). If players are stuck on “Loading files… (0/xx)”, keep "enable-http-security": false in conf.json, make sure the server is running without errors, and have the player delete the cached files for your server in their RAGE:MP client_resources folder and join again.

How to fix “Loading files” for all players

1

Check the console

Open the console and restart the server. Fix any script errors first; a server that stops during start-up can’t send files.
2

Check enable-http-security

Open conf.json in Files. If "enable-http-security": true is there, set it to false or remove the line. The wiki notes that on RAGE:MP 1.1 it can stop resources downloading through the launcher.
3

Check fastdl-host

If fastdl-host is set, players download from that address instead of your server. Remove it unless that host is set up and has the current files.
4

Save and restart

Click Save Content, restart and join again.

How to fix it for one player

The RAGE:MP User FAQ gives these steps for a player stuck on “Loading files… (0/xx)”:
  1. Close the game and the launcher.
  2. Open the client_resources folder in the RAGE:MP install folder and delete the cached files for your server.
  3. Join again and don’t press keys or type commands until the download finishes.
If it still fails, the FAQ says the player’s IP may be banned from the download server; trying from a different network shows whether that is the cause.

How to make downloads faster

  • Keep large images, videos and fonts out of client_packages, or compress them.
  • Add-on DLC packs in client_packages/dlcpacks are part of the download. Only keep packs you use; see DLC and modded clothing.
  • resources-compression-level (RAGE:MP 1.1 and later) trades CPU for smaller downloads. Higher values save bandwidth.

Frequently asked questions

Why do players have to download again after I update?

client_packages is downloaded by players when they join, so every update you make there is downloaded again. Group your client changes into fewer updates.

Do I need to open port 22006?

No. Your server already has the game port and the next port for the download server.

The game reconnects after the download. Is that normal?

Yes, when the download includes new DLC packs. The game reconnects, and the player may need to restart the game once.
