If a Satisfactory save doesn’t show up or won’t load on your FREAKHOSTING server, check that the .sav file is in .config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/, that you uploaded it with the server stopped (or used Upload Save in the Server Manager), and that the save isn’t from a newer game branch than the server. Modded saves also need the same mods on the server.

How to fix a save that doesn’t show up

1

Stop the server

2

Check the folder

In Files, open .config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/. Your .sav file must be directly in this folder, not in a sub-folder or a zip file.
3

Check the file

The file must end in .sav and have a size above zero. If not, upload it again.
4

Start and load

Start the server, open Server Manager > Manage Saves, select the save and load it.

Why won’t an Experimental save load?

A save from a newer branch cannot be loaded by an older one. A save made on Experimental doesn’t load on a Stable server. Either switch the server to Experimental under Game settings > Game branch (see experimental branch), or use a save made on Stable.

Why are my trains missing after uploading?

The official wiki lists this as a known dedicated server problem. Load the save in single player, rebuild the Train Station, save, and upload the save to the server again.

How to get an older save back

  • Autosaves: the server keeps rotating autosaves of each session (3 by default, set with Autosaves to keep on Game settings). Load an older one in Manage Saves.
  • Panel backups: restore a backup to go back to an earlier copy of all files.

Frequently asked questions

Does the server load my save automatically after a restart?

Yes, if Auto-Load Session Name in Server Manager > Server Settings is set to that session. It loads the session’s most recent save.

Do I have to stop the server to upload a save in Files?

Yes. Stop it before uploading through Files or SFTP. Upload Save in the Server Manager works while the server is running.

How many autosaves can I keep?

Set Autosaves to keep on Game settings, or use the Keep more autosaves preset for ten.
