Mastering Ark Administration

Administrative commands in Ark: Survival Evolved allow you to manage your community, troubleshoot issues, and customize your experience. The in-game console is your primary tool for server oversight.

Accessing Admin Status

Before you can use commands, you must authenticate as an administrator.
  1. Set Password: Ensure a password is set in your GameUserSettings.ini under ServerAdminPassword=YourSecret.
  2. Authenticate: Join your server and press TAB to open the console and type: enablecheats YourSecretPassword
  3. Verify: Test your status by typing cheat fly. If you begin floating, your admin status is active.

Essential Commands

  • Fly / Walk: cheat fly to fly, cheat walk to return to the ground.
  • Creative Mode: cheat gcm - Unlocks all engrams, grants infinite weight, and infinite resources.
  • World Maintenance: cheat destroywilddinos - Clears all wild dinosaurs to refresh spawns after a configuration change.
  • Save State: cheat saveworld - Forces the server to perform an immediate save.

Giving Items (The GFI System)

While older commands like giveitemnum exist, the GFI (Give Fantasy Item) system is the modern standard for spawning equipment.
  • Syntax: cheat GFI <Partial_Name> <Quantity> <Quality> <Blueprint>
  • Example: cheat GFI TekRifle 1 100 0 This spawns 1 high-quality Tek Rifle (not a blueprint).
