Master of the Gene Pool

Breeding and mutating creatures is the endgame of Ark. To create a modern, fast-paced environment, you must balance the maturity speed with the imprinting window.

Core Breeding Multipliers

Located in GameUserSettings.ini under [ServerSettings]:
  • Intervals: MatingIntervalMultiplier=0.05 (Lower is faster). This reduces the cooldown time between female mating cycles.
  • Incubation: EggHatchSpeedMultiplier=20.0 (Higher is faster). Affects both eggs and mammalian gestation.
  • Growth: BabyMatureSpeedMultiplier=20.0 (Higher is faster). Controls the speed from baby to adult.

The Imprinting Window (Crucial)

If your creatures mature too quickly, they will become adults before their first cuddle request.
  • The Fix: You must lower the BabyCuddleIntervalMultiplier.
  • Formula: If your mature speed is 20x, set your cuddle interval to 0.05 (1/20). This ensures imprinting is always achievable.

Mutation Rates

While there is no simple multiplier for mutation “chance” in the vanilla INI, increasing the overall speed of breeding allows your players to perform more cycles per hour, naturally accelerating the mutation process.
