The RedM game build is the Red Dead Redemption 2 version every player must run, set with sv_enforceGameBuild. On FREAKHOSTING, change it with Game Build in Startup: the default is 1491, the September 2022 update and the RedM build Cfx.re lists. Restart the server to apply it. Don’t use Game build on Server config; that list is for GTA V.

What is sv_enforceGameBuild?

The Cfx.re server commands describe it as the setting that “selects a game build for clients to use”. It can only be set when the server starts, not while it runs. Cfx.re’s RedM list has one build: Use another number only if Cfx.re adds it to that list, or a resource you use asks for it.

How to change the RedM game build

1

Open Startup

Open your server in the Game Panel and click Startup.
2

Set Game Build

Type the build number in Game Build (up to 4 digits), for example 1491. Click outside the field; it saves on its own.
3

Restart

Restart the server. The build is passed to FXServer when it starts.
Server config has a Game build field with a list of GTA V builds, such as 2060 or 3889. Those builds don’t exist for Red Dead Redemption 2 and would write a wrong sv_enforceGameBuild line. Leave that field not set on RedM. Server config shows not in the file because the RedM build comes from Startup, not from server.cfg.

Is the game build the same as the FXServer build?

No. The game build (1491) is the Red Dead Redemption 2 version players run. The FXServer build (for example 38055) is the server program, changed on Artifacts. See how to update your artifacts.

Frequently asked questions

What game build should my RedM server use?

1491. It is the default in Startup and the build Cfx.re lists for RedM.

Can I change the game build while the server runs?

No. Cfx.re says sv_enforceGameBuild is only read at startup. Restart after changing it.

Why is there no sv_enforceGameBuild line in my server.cfg?

On FREAKHOSTING the build comes from Game Build in Startup, which is applied when the server starts. Don’t add your own sv_enforceGameBuild line to the file; change the number in Startup instead.

Why does the VORP recipe also set 1491?

The VORP txAdmin recipe puts sv_enforceGameBuild 1491 in its own server.cfg. That matches the default in Startup.
