How to Trigger Events in Terraria (Invasions, Moons and Weather)

In vanilla Terraria you trigger events with summon items: a Bloody Tear starts a Blood Moon, a Goblin Battle Standard a Goblin Army, a Solar Tablet a Solar Eclipse, and the Pumpkin Moon Medallion or Naughty Present a Pumpkin or Frost Moon at night. A vanilla server has no event commands. In a Journey world, weather powers can start rain, which becomes a blizzard in a Snow biome.

How to force a blizzard or rain

In a Journey world, players with permission can use the weather powers. Set the rain strength above zero, then stand in a Snow biome for a blizzard. To allow it, set Set the rain strength (and Freeze the rain if you want it to last) to Everyone can change it in Journey mode settings. Classic, Expert and Master worlds have no weather control in vanilla.

How to change the time from the panel

Night-only items need night. Skip ahead from the Console: Type them without a slash. For example, type dusk, wait for night, then use the Pumpkin Moon Medallion.

Starting events by command with TShock

TShock adds /worldevent with options such as bloodmoon, eclipse, invasion, sandstorm, rain, lanternsnight and meteor. For invasions you pick goblins, snowmen, pirates, pumpkinmoon, frostmoon or martians. Our servers run vanilla Terraria, so this needs TShock first: see install TShock.
