TShock is a free, open-source server mod for Terraria that adds user accounts, admin groups, permissions, item bans, regions and plugin support. FREAKHOSTING Terraria servers run the official vanilla server and TShock isn’t installed. The server’s start command is fixed, so you can’t switch to TShock yourself. Open a ticket and ask our team about TShock for your server.

What is TShock?

TShock runs the Terraria server with extra features for server owners. Its maintainers list groups, permissions and item bans among its features. Compared with vanilla:

Is TShock up to date for Terraria 1.4.5?

Yes. TShock 6.0 added support for the Terraria 1.4.5 series and TShock 6.1 added Terraria 1.4.5.6, which is the version our servers ran when we checked. Each TShock release names the Terraria version it supports, so the TShock version has to match the server’s Terraria version.

How to get TShock on your FREAKHOSTING server

Back up your world

Make a panel backup and download your world.

Open a ticket

Open a ticket, say you would like TShock on your Terraria server and include your server’s name.

Claim the owner account

Once TShock runs, you create the first owner account with the setup code. See TShock groups and permissions.

Can I upload TShock myself?

No. The server starts the vanilla Terraria program and the start command can’t be changed from the panel. Open a ticket instead.

Does TShock work with tModLoader mods?

They are separate servers. For a modded (tModLoader) server, open a ticket.

Can players on vanilla Terraria join a TShock server?

Yes. TShock is server-side, so players join with the normal game on the same Terraria version.

Do I need to back up before switching?

Yes. Make a panel backup and keep a copy of your .wld file before any change to the server.
