To set up BattlEye RCon on a FREAKHOSTING Arma 3 server, open Startup, set an RCon Password (letters and numbers only) and set [Host] RCon Port to one of your server’s ports that the game doesn’t use. Keep BattlEye = 1; in server.cfg and restart. The panel writes both values to the BattlEye server config at every start. Then connect with an Arma 3 RCon tool.

Before you start

  • RCon (remote console) lets a tool on your PC kick, ban and message players through BattlEye without joining the game.
  • You need a free port. Arma 3 already uses your game port and the next four ports, so the RCon port must be a different port that belongs to your server.

Which port can I use for RCon?

Open Network to see your server’s ports. If there is no port outside this range, open a ticket and ask for an extra port for RCon.

How to turn on BattlEye RCon

1

Set the RCon password

Open Startup and enter an RCon Password. Use a long password with letters and numbers only. Without a password, RCon stays off.
2

Set the RCon port

Set [Host] RCon Port to your free port from Network. It must be different from the game ports. A value of 0 turns remote connections off.
3

Check server.cfg

Open server.cfg in Files and check that it contains BattlEye = 1;. This is the default. RCon doesn’t work when BattlEye is off.
4

Restart the server

Restart. The console shows BattlEye Server: Config entry: RConPort followed by your port.
5

Connect your RCon tool

In your BattlEye RCon tool, enter your server’s IP, the RCon port and the RCon password.
Change the RCon password and port on Startup only. The panel writes them again at every start, so edits to the BattlEye config file are replaced.

Common BattlEye RCon commands

Frequently asked questions

Is RCon the same as #login?

No. #login with passwordAdmin makes you admin inside the game. RCon is BattlEye’s remote console for tools outside the game. See become admin.

Why can’t my RCon tool connect?

Check that the RCon port is one of your server’s ports and not a game port, that the password matches, that BattlEye = 1; is set and that you restarted after the change.

Can I use the console instead of RCon?

Yes, for most tasks. Log in as admin in game and use the admin commands, or use the panel Console to watch the server.

Tested by the FREAKHOSTING team on our Game Panel on 31 October 2026 (Arma 3 dedicated server 2.22, BattlEye Server 1.221). RCon commands checked against the official BattlEye documentation. Steps may differ slightly if the game changes.
