To set up an Enshrouded dedicated server on FREAKHOSTING, open your server in the Game Panel, click Game settings under GAME SETTINGS, set Server name and Server password, click Review and save and start the server. Players join from the in-game list: Join, turn on Show dedicated servers and search for your server name, then enter the password.

Before you start

  • Log in to the Game Panel.
  • Have Enshrouded on your PC through Steam, on the same version as the server.
  • Your character stays on your PC. You bring it to the server when you join.

How to set up your Enshrouded server

Open Game settings

Open your server and click Game settings under GAME SETTINGS.

Name your server

Type a Server name. Players search the server list for this name.

Set your password

Click Change next to Server password, type your own password and click Done. The game makes a random password on first start, so replace it now.

Choose the game rules

Leave Game rules preset on Default, or pick Relaxed, Hard, Survival or Custom. See Game settings.

Turn on chat if you want it

Switch on Text chat and Voice chat. Both are off by default.

Save and start

Click Review and save, then Save changes. Start the server, or click Restart now if it is already running.

How do I know the server is ready?

The first start takes about 45 seconds. Open the console and wait for these lines:
When you see [game_server] Switching state from LoadEcsScene to Run, players can join.

How to join your Enshrouded server

Your query port is on the Startup page under [SERVER] Steam Query Port. Enshrouded asks for the password when you join.

Make your first backup

Once your world is running, make a backup and turn on automatic backups. See manage save games.

How many players can join my Enshrouded server?

Up to 16. Player slots in Game settings shows your server’s limit.

Do I need to keep my PC on?

No. The dedicated server runs on its own, so friends can play while you are offline.

Can I bring my character to the server?

Yes. Characters are stored on each player’s PC, not on the server, so you join with your own character.

Can I play my single-player world on the server?

It is possible to move a world, but the files must match the server’s save format. Open a ticket and we help you move it.

Does Enshrouded support crossplay?

Not at the 1.0 launch. Keen Games says cross-platform play is in development.
