Understanding the Save Structure
Enshrouded utilizes a complex database-like structure for world saves rather than a single flat file. This architecture allows the game to track persistent voxel changes across the entire map, from deep excavations to massive structures.

1. Locating the Data
All world data is stored within the/savegame/ directory. Inside, you will typically find two files:
- World ID (Hex): A large file (e.g.,
3ad85...) containing the voxel data and terrain changes. - Metadata Info: A small file (e.g.,
3ad85..._info) containing world state information.
2. Creating a Backup
- Crucial: Stop your server via the FREAKHOSTING panel to prevent database corruption during the copy process.
- Navigate to the Files tab.
- Select the
/savegame/folder and use the Archive (Zip) function or download it directly via SFTP to your local machine.
3. Restoring or Transferring a Save
- Stop the server.
- Proceed to the
/savegame/folder on the server. - Wipe any existing files in this folder to ensure a clean restoration.
- Upload your backup files into the empty directory.
- Restart the server.
