To manage save games on your FREAKHOSTING Enshrouded server, use Backups in the Game Panel: Create backup saves the whole server, including the world in /savegame/, and Restore takes the world back to that moment. Turn on Automatic backups for daily copies. Characters are not part of server saves, because Enshrouded keeps each character on the player’s own PC.

How to back up your Enshrouded world

Open Backups

Open your server and click Backups under MANAGEMENT.

Create a backup

Click Create backup, give it a name such as “Before Flame level 6”, and click Start backup. The server keeps running.

Keep it if it matters

Turn on Keep this backup to lock it, so it isn’t deleted by a clean-up.

How to set up automatic backups

Open Automatic backups, choose Every 6 hours, Daily or Weekly, pick a time and how many backups to keep, then click Save. See automatic backups.

How to restore an older save

Make a backup of now

Create a backup first, so you can come back if the older save isn’t what you wanted.

Restore

In Backups, click Restore on the backup you want and confirm with Restore this backup. The server stops until the restore is finished.

Start the server

Start the server and join to check the world.
Restoring affects everyone on the server. Tell your players first, because their world progress since the backup is lost. Their characters are not affected.

Can I move my own world to the server?

Yes, but Enshrouded 1.0 uses a new save format, and the files must match what the server expects. To avoid losing your world, open a ticket and tell us which world you want to move. Your local saves are in C:\Users\<you>\Saved Games\keen games\Enshrouded\default. See locate save files.

Frequently asked questions

Did Enshrouded 1.0 keep my old world?

Yes. Early Access saves work in 1.0. The first time a world is loaded in 1.0, the game backs up the old save and converts it to the new format. Keen Games recommends starting a new world to see the 1.0 changes.

Does a backup include player characters?

No. Characters are on each player’s PC. Players should back up their own save folder.

How many backups can I keep?

The Backups page shows how many backups your server has used and how many it can hold.

My world looks wrong after an update. What now?

Restore the last backup from before the update, then read the log or open a ticket.
