A FiveM licence key (also called a server registration key or Cfx.re key) is free. Sign in at portal.cfx.re, click the + button to register a new server, fill in the form, click Generate Key, then open the server and click Copy Key. Paste the key into FxServer License Key on the Startup page of your FREAKHOSTING server and restart it.

How to get a FiveM licence key

Sign in to the Cfx.re Portal

Go to portal.cfx.re and sign in with your Cfx.re account.

Register a server

Click the large + button to register a new server. Fill in the information the form asks for, then click Generate Key.

Copy the key

Open the server you just registered and click Copy Key. Your keys are listed on the Portal’s Server Registration Keys page.
Treat your licence key like a password. Don’t post it on Discord, in screenshots or in shared files. If someone else gets it, create a new key on the Portal and replace the old one.

Open Startup

Open your server in the Game Panel and click Startup in the sidebar.

Paste the key

Replace changemeplease in FxServer License Key with your key, then click outside the field. It saves on its own.

Restart the server

Click Restart at the top of the page. The server checks the key with Cfx.re as it starts.
The Licence key field on Server config shows whether a key is set. Its Change it in Startup link takes you to the same field.

Do I need a paid key for more players?

No paid key is needed for most servers. According to Cfx.re, OneSync is free up to 48 slots. For more than 48 slots, your key needs a FiveM Element Club subscription from the Argentum tier upwards, which you buy on the Cfx.re Portal. See how to change slots on your FiveM server.

What happened to Keymaster?

Cfx.re replaced Keymaster with the Cfx.re Portal. You now create and manage keys at portal.cfx.re. Sign in with the same Cfx.re account you used on Keymaster to manage your keys there.

Is a FiveM licence key free?

Yes. Registering a server and generating a key on the Cfx.re Portal costs nothing. You only pay Cfx.re if you want more than 48 slots or other Element Club perks.

Can I use one key for several servers?

Create a separate key for each server. That way you can replace one key without affecting your other servers.

My key worked before I moved servers. What now?

Keys made on the old Keymaster were tied to the server’s IP address. If the console reports a licence error after a move or IP change, generate a new key on the Portal and paste it in Startup. See how to change your licence key.

Where do I put the key: server.cfg or Startup?

Put it in Startup > FxServer License Key. It is a required variable on FREAKHOSTING FiveM servers, so you don’t need to edit server.cfg for it.
