An Icarus dedicated server prints many red errors at start-up that are harmless, such as IcarusOSSLog: Error: Login() failed: Empty Id and LogStreaming: Error: Couldn't find file for package /Script/FunctionalTesting. The server is ready when the console shows IpNetDriver listening on port 17777 followed by Match State Changed from EnteringMap to WaitingToStart. On our test server that took about 3 minutes.

The lines that mean your Icarus server is ready

After the second line, players can join. The server sits in the lobby (map DedicatedServerEntry) until a prospect is loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the console show so many errors?

The Icarus server is a Windows program that runs under Wine on our Linux servers, and the game engine logs many features a server doesn’t use. The lines listed above don’t stop the server.

How long does the first start take?

About 3 minutes on our test server. An update at start-up adds a few minutes.

Can I type commands in the console?

Icarus admin commands are typed in the in-game chat. See admin commands.
