Managing Server Access
By default, Killing Floor 2 servers are open to the public. If you are running a private match or training for a tournament, you must apply a password. Additionally, managing the “Takeover” mode is essential to prevent random lobbies from “hijacking” your dedicated instance.

1. Setting the Join Password
- Open your
PCServer-KFGame.inifile via the File Manager. - Locate the variable
GamePassword=. - Enter your desired password (e.g.,
GamePassword=Secret123). - Restart the server.
2. Disabling Takeover Mode
In the “Matchmaking” world of KF2, random groups can “Take Over” empty servers to play their own custom games. If you want your server to remain exclusively yours:- In the same
.inifile, findbUsedForTakeover=. - Set this to
false. - This prevents the server from being used by the public matchmaking system, ensuring your configuration is never overwritten by a lobby host.
