In a crowded server browser, branding is everything. A server with a custom banner, a clear welcome message, and relevant links for Discord or Store pages will always attract more players than a “Default Server 01.” Killing Floor 2 allows for rich-text MOTDs and external image hosting.

1. Setting the Server Name

  1. Navigate to your FREAKHOSTING Startup tab.
  2. Locate the Server Name field.
  3. Enter your branding (e.g., FREAKHOSTING | 24/7 Prison Map | Double XP).
  4. Restart the server.

2. Configuring the MOTD and Banner

To add a high-quality banner that appears when players join:
  1. Open PCServer-KFGame.ini via the File Manager.
  2. Search for the [KFGame.KFGameReplicationInfo] block.
  3. Edit the following lines:
    • ServerMOTD= Your text based welcome message.
    • BannerLink= A direct URL to an image (e.g., http://i.imgur.com/example.png).
    • WebsiteLink= Your community’s website or Discord invite.

Image Constraints

For the best results, use a banner with a 1024x512 resolution. Ensure the image is hosted on as HTTPS-ready site (like Imgur) to prevent the game from blocking the download as “insecure content.”
