The Minecraft server commands admins use most are op, whitelist, ban, pardon, kick, gamemode, tp, give, time, weather, difficulty, gamerule, list, say, save-all and stop. On a FREAKHOSTING server you type them in the Console without a /. In game, put / in front, and you need the right operator level.

Open the console

Open your server in the Game Panel. The Console page opens first. See use the server console.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my command say “Unknown command”?

In the console, don’t type /. Also check the spelling, and that the command exists in your Minecraft version. Plugin commands only work when the plugin is loaded.

Does /list show operators?

No. list shows who is online, not who is an operator. See your operators on Players > Opped.

How do I give myself op from the console?

Type op <your-name>, or add yourself on Players > Opped with level 4.

Do Paper and plugins add more commands?

Yes. Plugins add their own commands, such as /home from EssentialsX or lp from LuckPerms. Check each plugin’s page for its commands.

How do I clear lag-causing items?

Run kill @e[type=item] to remove dropped items. See the lag checklist for more.
