All plugin recipes assume a Paper server. Install plugins from the Plugins page and restart afterwards. See plugins, mods and modpacks. Make a backup before you start.
Survival SMP with land claims
Players protect their own builds, so you don’t have to police griefing.1
Install the plugins
On Plugins, install GriefPrevention. Add CoreProtect so you can roll back damage outside claims, and EssentialsX for
/home and /tpa.2
Restart and test
Restart the server. Check the console for errors.

Tell players how claims work
Players right-click two opposite corners with a golden shovel to claim land. They earn claim blocks by playing (100 per hour by default).
To roll back griefing outside a claim, use CoreProtect:
/co inspect to see who changed a block, and /co rollback u:<player> t:1d r:20 to undo a player’s changes from the last day within 20 blocks.
Let older and newer clients join
Players on a different game version see Outdated client or Outdated server. The Via plugins fix that.
Install the ones you need from Plugins and restart. Via plugins update often, so check for updates after every Minecraft release.
New blocks and items from a newer version don’t exist on an older server. Players on newer clients only get the features your server version has.
Voting rewards
Players vote for your server on server list sites and get a reward. You need two plugins:- NuVotifier receives votes from the list sites.
- A reward plugin, such as VotingPlugin, gives the reward.

Ask for an extra port
NuVotifier needs its own port. Open a ticket and ask for an extra port.

Install the plugins
Install NuVotifier and your reward plugin, then restart once so the config files are created.

Set the port
In Files, open
plugins/Votifier/config.yml and set port: to the extra port we gave you. Restart.4
Register on the list sites
On each server list site, enter your server address, the Votifier port and the public key. The key is in
plugins/Votifier/rsa/public.key. Copy the whole content.5
Test
Most list sites have a Test vote button. The console logs the vote when it arrives.
Economy and shops

Install EssentialsX and Vault
EssentialsX adds money,
/pay, /balance and /sell. Vault lets other plugins use that money.2
Add shops (optional)
Add a shop plugin that supports Vault, such as a chest-shop plugin, for player shops.

Set starting money
In
plugins/Essentials/config.yml, set starting-balance. Restart./eco give <player> <amount>, /balance, /baltop and /pay <player> <amount>. Give players permission to use them with LuckPerms.
One-block or skyblock
You don’t need plugins for a simple one-block or skyblock world.1
Find a map
Click Worlds, search for “one block” or “skyblock” and pick a version made for your server’s Minecraft version.

Install as the active world
Click Install, keep Make this the active world on and click Install world.

Restart
Restart the server to load the world.
Modded server
The easiest way is a modpack: click Modpacks, pick a pack and click Install modpack. The panel installs the right loader and Minecraft version and makes a backup first. See install a modpack. Modded servers need more memory. Check the RAM guide.Related articles
