Upload your own world

You can upload a single-player world or a world from another host.
1

Find your world

On your computer, single-player worlds are in your Minecraft folder under saves. On Windows, press Win + R, type %appdata%\.minecraft\saves and press Enter.
2

Zip the world folder

Right-click the world folder and create a .zip file. The zip must contain the folder with level.dat inside it.
3

Stop the server and upload

Click Stop. Open Files, click Upload and choose your zip. For big worlds (over a few hundred MB), use SFTP.
4

Unarchive

Click … next to the zip and choose Unarchive. Check the world folder is in the main folder, with level.dat directly inside it. Then delete the zip.
5

Make it active

Click Worlds > Installed and click Set active on your world. If your world isn’t listed there, open server.properties in Files and set level-name to the world’s folder name instead. Start the server.
Single-player and Vanilla worlds keep the Nether and the End inside the world folder (DIM-1 and DIM1). Paper keeps them in separate folders called <world>_nether and <world>_the_end, and moves them for you on the first start. Make a backup first, and don’t open the world in an older Minecraft version than it was last played in.
If players spawn in the void or inside blocks, run tp @a 0 100 0 in the console, then set a spawn point with setworldspawn.

Download your world

  • One world: in Files, click … next to the world folder and choose Archive. Then click … next to the new archive and choose Download.
  • Everything: click Backups, create a backup and click Download on it. See backups.
Stop the server or run save-all first, so the latest changes are written to disk.

Reset your world

To start a fresh world and keep the old one:
1

Make a backup

Click Backups > Create backup.
2

Stop the server

Click Stop.
3

Point the server to a new folder

In Files, open server.properties and change level-name to a name that isn’t used yet, for example:
Click Save Content.
4

Start the server

The server can’t find a world with that name, so it creates a new one. Your old world stays in its own folder, and you can switch back to it later.
To change the seed of the new world, see custom world seed. When you’re sure you don’t need the old world, delete it on the Installed tab to free disk space.
