If your Mordhau server won’t start, open the Console in the Game Panel and look at the last lines, or read Mordhau/Saved/Logs/Mordhau.log in Files. Most problems come from the last change: undo your last Game.ini edit with History in the file editor, set DEFAULT_MAP back to Grad/FL_Grad, or remove the last Mods= line you added, then start again.

What does a good start look like?

A healthy start prints these lines in the console, in this order: If the console stops before the last line, the line just before it usually shows the cause.

How to fix a Mordhau server that won’t start

Read the console and log

Open the console and start the server. If it stops, open Mordhau/Saved/Logs/Mordhau.log in Files and look at the last lines for an error.

Undo your last Game.ini or Engine.ini edit

Open the file in Files, click History and restore the version from before your change. A missing [ or ] in a section name, or a typo in a key, can break the settings.

Reset the first map

On Startup, set DEFAULT_MAP back to Grad/FL_Grad. A map name in the wrong format, or a custom map path that doesn’t exist, stops the map from loading.

Remove the last mod

With the server stopped, delete the last Mods= line you added in Game.ini, save and start again. See install mods.

Check disk and memory

Open Statistics. A full disk stops updates and saves. Delete old backups or files you don’t need.

Restore a backup

If nothing helps, restore a backup from before the problem started.

Where is the Mordhau server log?

Mordhau/Saved/Logs/Mordhau.log. Open it in Files, or download it from there if you send it to support.

Should I reinstall the server?

Only as a last step. A reinstall can delete or change files. Make a backup first, and see server settings and reinstall.

My server stops on its own at night. Why?

Check Schedules for a restart or stop task, and the Activity log for who stopped it.
