MTA Server Console Commands: Full List With Examples

MTA:SA server console commands are typed in the Console page of the FREAKHOSTING Game Panel, without a slash. Type help for the full list. The most used are refresh and start <resource> for resources, addaccount <name> <password> for accounts, aclrequest for resource rights and gamemode <mode> to switch game mode. Output also goes to mods/deathmatch/logs/server.log.

Resource commands

Command	Example	What it does
`refresh`	`refresh`	Re-scans the resources folder for new resources.
`refreshall`	`refreshall`	Refreshes and restarts resources that changed.
`start <resource>`	`start race`	Starts a resource.
`stop <resource>`	`stop race`	Stops a resource.
`restart <resource>`	`restart scoreboard`	Restarts a running resource.
`info <resource>`	`info admin`	Shows information about a resource.
`check [all / <resource>]`	`check all`	Lists what `upgrade` would change, without changing anything.
`upgrade [all / <resource>]`	`upgrade myresource`	Upgrades old resources.

Account and ACL commands

Command	Example	What it does
`addaccount <name> <password>`	`addaccount alex S3cure-Pass`	Creates an account.
`delaccount <name>`	`delaccount alex`	Deletes an account.
`chgpass <name> <password>`	`chgpass alex N3w-Pass`	Changes an account’s password.
`aclrequest list <resource>`	`aclrequest list ip2c`	Shows the rights a resource asks for.
`aclrequest allow <resource> all`	`aclrequest allow ip2c all`	Grants the requested rights.
`aclrequest deny <resource> all`	`aclrequest deny runcode all`	Refuses the requested rights.
`reloadacl`	`reloadacl`	Reloads `acl.xml`.
`authserial <name>`	`authserial alex`	Approves the last serial that tried to log in to a protected account.
`authserial <name> list`	`authserial alex list`	Lists approved serials.
`authserial <name> remove`	`authserial alex remove`	Removes the newest approved serial.
`authserial <name> httppass`	`authserial alex httppass`	Gives a 7-digit code for web interface logins.
`reloadbans`	`reloadbans`	Reloads bans from `banlist.xml`.

Gamemode and map commands

These come from the default mapmanager resource.

Command	Example	What it does
`gamemode <mode> [map]`	`gamemode race`	Switches gamemode. `changemode` does the same.
`changemap <map> [mode]`	`changemap mymap`	Switches map.
`stopmode`	`stopmode`	Stops the gamemode and its map.
`stopmap`	`stopmap`	Stops the map only.
`gamemodes`	`gamemodes`	Lists gamemodes.
`maps [mode]`	`maps race`	Lists maps.

Server and player commands

Command	Example	What it does
`help`	`help`	Lists the commands.
`ver` / `sver`	`ver`	Shows the server’s MTA version.
`openports`	`openports`	Tests whether the server ports are reachable.
`say <text>`	`say Restart in 5 minutes`	Sends a message to all players.
`whois <nick>`	`whois PlayerName`	Shows the IP of a connected player.
`shutdown <reason>`	`shutdown Maintenance`	Shuts the server down.

Use the panel’s Restart button rather than shutdown when you want the server back. See start, stop and restart.

Player (client) commands

Players type these in the F8 console, or with / in chat:

Command	What it does
`login <name> <password>`	Logs in to an account.
`logout`	Logs out.
`connect <host> [<port> <nick> <pass>]`	Connects to a server, for example `connect 203.0.113.10 22003`.
`reconnect`	Connects to the previous server.
`ver`	Shows the client’s MTA version.
`serial`	Shows the player’s serial.
`showframegraph [0-1]`	Shows the frame rate graph.

Kick, ban and mute are easiest from the admin panel (admin command) once you are logged in as admin.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a command say “access denied”?

The account or resource lacks the right in acl.xml. Commands from the panel console run as the Console user. See acl.xml explained.

Can I run console commands on a schedule?

Yes. Schedules can send commands for you, for example say Restart in 5 minutes before a nightly restart. See schedules.

How do I see what a command printed earlier?

Open mods/deathmatch/logs/server.log or see server logs.
