To join a Risk of Rain 2 dedicated server, copy the address from the Network page in the Game Panel (for example 203.0.113.10:27015). Then either find the server in Steam under View > Game Servers and double-click it, or open the game console with Ctrl + Alt + ~ and type connect "203.0.113.10:27015". For a passworded server, set cl_password first.

  • The server is running. Check the state on the dashboard.
  • Every player has Risk of Rain 2 on Steam, on the same game version as the server.

How to find your server address

Open Network

Open your server in the Game Panel and click Network under MANAGEMENT.

Copy the primary address

Click Copy next to the allocation marked PRIMARY. This is the game port, for example 203.0.113.10:27015. The second port is the query port, which Steam uses to read your server’s details. Players don’t join on it.

Open Game Servers

In the Steam client, click View > Game Servers.

Open the Internet tab and set the game filter to Risk of Rain 2.

Join

Find your Server Hostname and double-click it. Steam starts the game and connects you.

How to join with the console

The developer console is off until you open it once with a key combination. On UK and US keyboards press Ctrl + Alt + ~. After that, ~ opens and closes it.

How many players can join?

Risk of Rain 2 is made for you and up to three friends, and sv_maxplayers defaults to 4. Max Players on Startup shows the slots in your plan and is read only. For more slots, open a ticket.

Why can’t I see my server in the Steam list?

Check that Advertise Server is on in Startup and that the server is running, then restart it. You can always join with connect. See not showing in the list.

Which port do I use to join?

The PRIMARY port on the Network page. The other port is the query port and is not for joining.

How do I join a server with a password?

Type cl_password "yourpassword"; connect "203.0.113.10:27015" in the console, with your own password and address. See set a password.

Can I use the connect command on a console?

No. Console platforms can’t open the developer console, so the connect method only works on PC.
