Introduction
Did you start a factory in Singleplayer and now want to move it to a dedicated server for 24/7 production? You can transfer the.sav file easily.
Prerequisites
- Local Save: Located in
%localappdata%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\{YOUR_ID}\.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Prepare the File
- Find your save (e.g.,
MyBase.sav). - Rename it to something simple like
session.sav(Optional, but removes spaces).
Step 2: Uploading
- Connect via SFTP.
- Navigate to
/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/.- Note: This path is weird on Linux. It might be hidden. If you can’t find it, look for the log file “LogServer” -> search for “Save Path” to find where the server thinks the saves are.
- Common Path:
/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/.
- Upload the
.savfile.
Step 3: Configuring Startup
- Go to Server Manager (In your Game Client).
- Select the server.
- Go to Manage Saves tab.
- You should see “session” in the list.
- Click Load Game.
- The server will restart and load that factory.
Troubleshooting
“Version Mismatch”- If you played on “Experimental” branch locally, you cannot load that save on “Early Access” (Stable) server. They must match.
Conclusion
Your factory is portable. Move it between PC and Server as much as you like. Just remember to Save before shutting down!Support Channels
