To set up a V Rising dedicated server on FREAKHOSTING, open your server in the Game Panel, click Startup and set Server Name, Server Description, Server Password and Save Name. Start the server and wait for Startup Completed in the console. Players find it under Show All Servers in game, or join with Direct Connect and your server address. Game rules go in save-data/Settings/ServerGameSettings.json.

Before you start

  • Log in to the Game Panel.
  • Have V Rising installed on your PC (Steam).
  • There is no separate V Rising settings page in the panel. Host settings are Startup variables; game rules are a file you edit.

How to set up your V Rising server

1

Open Startup

Open your server and click Startup.
2

Name your server

Enter a Server Name. This is what players see in the server list. Add a Server Description: players see it in the server list details and in chat when they join.
3

Set a password (optional)

Enter a Server Password to keep the server private, or leave it blank so anyone can join.
4

Choose the world

Save Name (default world1) is the name of your world’s save folder. Leave it for a new world, or see save files to upload one.
5

Pick a rule set (optional)

Choose a Game Settings Preset such as StandardPvE or StandardPvP, or leave it empty to use the defaults or your own ServerGameSettings.json.
6

Start the server

Start the server and watch the console. A start takes about a minute. The server is ready when you see [Server] Startup Completed.

V Rising Startup variables in the FREAKHOSTING Game Panel

The panel writes these values into save-data/Settings/ServerHostSettings.json every time the server starts, so always change them on Startup, not in the file.

How to join your V Rising server

Enter the password if you set one. If you can’t find the server, see not showing in the list.

Make your first backup

V Rising autosaves every 600 seconds and keeps 50 autosaves by default. Also make a panel backup once your world is set up, and before game updates.
